Day 1 - Sunday, August 02

After a busy BBQ that lasted until 1am, we had a few hours of sleep and woke up at 7am for the big adventure. Packing, saying the last goodbyes and off we went! Mike choose the scenic road north from Banff to Jasper. It's one of the most beautiful drives I ever had. Half way through, is the Columbia Ice Fields, the largest icefield in the Canadian Rockies.

Totally worth checking out.

Going into BC

From Jasper we headed west on the Yellowhead highway into BC. Right after I was awake from my nap by flashing red and blue lights. Mike was pulled over for speeding. He was 120 in a 100 limit. Well, we had a bit of action...

We arrived in Prince George at 6pm (local time) and decided to keep going. But before, we took a tour in the city. It was kind of a dead town, maybe because it is Sunday, but the park on top of the hill is quite nice.

Back on the road, we looked for animals, but only saw horses, a donkey (?) e a mad cow decided to charge our car. Luckly Mike was fast enough to drive away.
We made it to Smithers late at night and ended up in a cheap motel on the side of the road. Tomorrow will be the Yukon, babe!

Day 1 balance:

Kms: 1120
Driving hours: 14
Speeding ticket: 1
Animals: an elk, a donkey and a charging cow (yes, the cow came like a mad one against our car)
Tomorrow's goal: Whitehorse, Yukon
