Day 23 - Oct. 13 - Tuesday

BUDAPEST, HUNGARY

Our train hide was easy and comfortable. We arrived in the capital of Hungary at 8:30am. I did our ritual of carrying the luggage and my parents to a quiet corner of the station, avoid the taxi drivers that swarmed us, exchange money, find a cab to take us to the hotel - previously booked on line- and get settled in the new room. Every city we do the same. This process takes about 2 hours and an amount of stress.

It was really cool to be back in Budapest. I was here for the first time in 1998, but I could not remember too much of it. Now I am starting to recognize some places.

We left the luggage at the hotel and headed out for a long walk mostly along the Danube River. We went both in the Buda and Pest sides. It was beautiful but the weather sucked!!! It was cold with a was a very strong wind. Sometimes it felt like we would be blown away.

This was one of the best meals we had so far in this trip. It was a huge plate - for two, but we could've eaten the three of us - with chicken, pork, goulash (beef), salad, rice, boiled potatoes, fried potatoes, pancakes with chocolate sauce for dessert and red wine. Yummy!

This is our apart-hotel. Instead of staying in a hotel room, we rented out a full apartment, with kitchen, for only 54 euros a night. Good deal!
Good night!
