Day 3 - Sept. 3 - Wednesday

Paris

What a wonderful day!

After a much needed 12 hours of sleep we woke up still in Paris. We started the day heading to the Arc De Triomphe. After struggling in the subway with so many tunnels and lines, we got there and it was worth it. The monument was built Napoleon to commemorate his victories in battles and wars. Each sculptured piece has a meaning. It costs 9 euros a person to get up there and you have an amazing view of Paris, especially of the Champs-Elysees, one of the city’s most famous streets.

European parking job!

We also climbed the Eiffel Tower, to the very top. It costs 13 euros and the view is very better: higher! For those who don’t know, the tower was built in 1889 for the Exposition Universelle and faced a massive opposition from the city’s artistic and literary elite. Today, I don’t think there is one person in the world who cannot identify the Eiffel Tower!

I had to feed my Gremlin, before he turned to a monster!

I would love to have this job! At least for a day!

Photos taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower.

I was there!!!!

The Arc Du Triomphe from the tower.

It's not only in Brazil!!

From there we walked along the Siena River in the direction of the Musee Du Louvre. On the way to the world’s most famous museum, we saw the Grande Palais, the Place De La Concorde, and the Hotel des Invalides.

Anyone who has ever visited Paris knows that the city is surrounded by beauty and history. It is like every building has something to tell about past centuries. There is no space for the modern, neither for fast food restaurants, although you can always find a McDonalds, if you look hard. There are tons of tourists all over, all armed with photograph and video cameras, and maps.

The Louvre is just beautiful. I love it, but at the same time I feel like it’s a bit over exposed. We have all seen it a million times in magazines, on television and friend’s photo albums. Still, I am posting my pictures here, so you can see it all a million times plus one times! :)

Dinner was in a Chinese restaurant close to the hotel. Delicious! Good night!
