After years of planing, here we are! Los Quatro Amigos - we are missing one: our dear Ralfinho, who could not come - on the way to tropical and hot Cuba!
We have been best friends for over two decades when we all more and less arrived in Toronto, and finally being able to spend that much time together was an awesome experience.
My life in Canada is much better with you around, Gabi, Tania and Marcelo.
Amo vocês!
The flight was brutal, leaving Toronto super earlier in the morning - which means we barely slept last night... but it's all worthy it.
From inside the bus from the airport to the Varadero hotel, we could see the ocean.
How I miss it!
My body and soul were happy.
We getting a warm welcome from the hotel staff.
We didn't waste anytime and rushed to the beach right away.
As many resorts in Cuba, this is a simple one.
Still, the beach is incredible and the people would do anything to make you feel special and have the greatest time.
FROM WIKIPEDIA: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varadero
Varadero, also referred to as Playa Azul (Blue Beach), is a resort town in the province of Matanzas, Cuba, and one of the largest resort areas in the Caribbean. Varadero Beach is rated one of the world's best beaches in TripAdvisor's Traveler's Choice Awards since 2019, ranking at number 9 as of January 2024. Common activities include fishing and excursions to Matanzas, Cárdenas, and the Península de Zapata.
One of my favourite photos of this trip!
During the week, the hotel recreation team works really hard to create fun activities for the guests. One is the Cuban Day that happens once a week. Lots of music and great food, outdoor.
I love the live music!
The food was pretty tasty with some barbecued pork. It was lots of fun being outside. Here, we are hanging out with a Brazilian sweetheart named Kelly, who was travelling alone. We loved her and she could definitely be part of our crew. Kelly, we hope you are enjoying your travels safely too!
Another fun hotel activity was the Valentine's Day.
I personally don't really care about these occasions, but it was cute to see the effort the hotel team puts on celebrating possible special dates for guests.
The cupid here brings a different kind of love: sparkling! :)
And you might be the chosen one if the shoe fits!
But most of our days were spent like this, on the beach reading, chatting, sleeping, swimming.
Appreciating each other's company and the power of friendships.
The evenings were fun too, with lots of food, entertainment and drinks.
We had a chance to book special restaurants in the hotel a couple of evenings. It turns out that the food was not THAT special, but the company, the caring staff and being together brings everything up, to a better place.
Lovely few first days in Cuba!
