Jan. 18 - Heading to the west coast mountains!

Here is Team Brazil-Canada heading west, chasing some white powder and good skiing conditions. It looks and sounds like they know what they are doing... not really. But they have an open mind, and a warm heart. That's enough for any happy traveller.

After West Jet cancelled our flight and put us in another flight to Calgary, then 24 hours later to Vancouver - arriving almost 30 hours after the original plan - we had to quickly change plans and fly Porter. It worked in the end, but it was stressful.

Flying over the Canadian Rockies - Alberta.

Sofia's art (up) in the air.

We got a Canada's winter wonderland reception in Vancouver, which is very rare.
It was snowing and the city got over 30 centimeters of snow the night before.

The team is a bit tired - specially because of the 3 hours time difference, but we are set to drive another 2 hours up the mountains, to Whistler.  There is no time to waste.

Still lots of snow in Vancouver.

FROM WIKIPEDIA:

Whistler is a resort municipality in Squamish-Lillooet Regional DistrictBritish Columbia, Canada. It is located in the southern Pacific Ranges of the Coast Mountains, approximately 125 km (78 mi) north of Vancouver and 36 km (22 mi) south of Pemberton. It has a permanent population of approximately 13,982 (2021), as well as a larger but rotating population of seasonal workers.

Over two million people visit Whistler annually, primarily for alpine skiing and snowboarding and, in the summer, mountain biking at Whistler Blackcomb. Its pedestrian village has won numerous design awards, and Whistler has been voted among the top destinations in North America by major ski magazines since the mid-1990s. During the 2010 Winter Olympics, Whistler hosted most of the alpine, Nordiclugeskeleton, and bobsled events.

We finally made to Whistler at 9pm, which was already midnight in Toronto.
Tomorrow is time to show off on the hills... well, at least for some of us.
