Au revoir Québec... Bonjour Montreal! --- SUNDAY, September 18, 2022

The day started with a nice French breakfast in the neighbourhood - filled with croissants and coffee - and a walk to the Notre Dame church, right beside our AirBnB.

Built in 1647, the Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral was the first church made of stone in the city. With strong European roots, the church is the ancestor of all Catholic parishes that have spread across Canada and the United States. During the British siege in 1759, the church was damaged but was later rebuilt according to the original plans.

The girls lighted up a candle for the sweet late vovô.

The interior is really impressive.

Right after, we hopped back into the car and drove another 3 hours back to Montreal.

I absolutely love Montreal and have visited it so many times, but this time was not the highlight of our trip. It was raining way too much to enjoy the city as it deserves.

Again we opted to stay in Old Montreal, the favourite area for tourists.

We tried really hard to walk around and enjoy it, but it was hard with so much rain and just a couple of umbrellas. The area was also dead.

Still, they look fabulous, don't they?

We tried to do indoor things and the Bonsecours Market was a good option. There are small shops and galleries, but again, everything was so calm because of the bad weather.

Inaugurated in 1847 and recognized as one of the ten most beautiful heritage buildings in Canada, the Bonsecours Market has established itself as a must on any visit to Old Montreal.

Headquarters of the Conseil des métiers d'art du Québec, the Market is home to 15 high-quality "made in Québec" creation shops : arts and crafts, fashion, accessories and jewellery, design objects, Québec furniture of yesteryear...

Its restaurants and their terraces, open during the summer season, offer local products.

The best part of visiting Montreal - as always - is to see lovely friends. Gabi (picture) and Doris were so kind to leave their comfortable house and drive through all that rain to have dinner with us.
Our great friends Akira and Amalia also came to hang out with us in our accommodation, but I forgot to take pictures. They all made the visit to rainy Montreal worthwhile.

Fondue for dinner.

Good night sweet - and rainy - Montreal!
